Everton is expected to field the same team as last match. They impressed by beating Southampton 3-0 away, and performed a lot better than in their opening match against Watford. We are not that sure about Southampton yet, so will be careful to read too much into the Everton victory - especially as today's opponent is Manchester City.
Manchester City has one win, one loss, and one draw in the last three encounters at Goodison Park. They have shown terrific form by beating WBA 3-0 away and Chelsea 3-0 at home. It is doubtful that Pelligrini will make changes to the team that is performing so well, although newly arrived Otamendi plus Delph and Fernando are surely eager to play.
The match will probably play out quite similarly to the encounter between the teams in January this year. City will have over 60% possession and Everton will have to focus mostly on counter attacks and set pieces. Lukaku, Kone and Barkley have performed well, so Manchester City could concede their first goal of the season in this match.
