Liverpool host Southampton in England Premiership. Liverpool dealt with the loss of Suarez by buying in bulk mainly from todays visitors. In come Lallana, Lovren and Lambert. From elsewhere comes Emre Can, Javier Manquillo, Albert Moreno and Lazar Markovic. Bar Suarez none of the other leavers will be missed – with Reina, Cody, Kelly, Aspas and Luis Alberto all have decent replacements.
Southampton have lost almost the entire starting eleven and several of the fringe players too. A few interesting players come in with Tadic, Taider, Pelle, Long and Gardos in with keeper Forster and wingback Bertrand. Southampton was very much a side with a strong eleven last season, and perhaps not so much squad depth. Given the changes I think they're in for trouble against one of the most fluent sides in football.
I take Liverpool to win well here. The home side will continue their exciting brand of attacking football without Suarez. I see Coutinho and Sterling more central to the game here with Sturridge dead set to score here with all the quality supply. Southampton has brought in a good group of players and look a decent side on paper. Still, it will take time to gel.
