Roberto Mancini was spotted at the Emirates when Liverpool played a very good game against Arsenal in midweek. He will need all the notes he made if his team is to take the points they need to stay in the hunt for Premier League glory. Liverpool is in 7th position on the league table, 4 points behind Tottenham in 4th spot. Brendan Rodgers was delighted with his team’s performance against Arsenal on Wednesday, but he will need his 11 to play equally well against the defending EPL champion if Liverpool is to keep their hopes for 4th up.

Liverpool showed they got some bottle and stood up to the fast moving and highly dynamic Arsenal side last Wednesday. If they can get in Manchester City’s face like that the Reds are in good shape. They will have to stress the City defenders and at the same time stay compact, with a fighting spirit at the back. Then they can get chances on the break or from open play.

Manchester City on the other hand will try to move the ball quickly up front. That’s how Arsenal got back from 0-2 to 2-2 against Liverpool. Mancini has the likes of Samir Nasri, David Silva, Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez to do that. So he has no excuses! As Vincent Kompany is out it is a bit unclear what he will do in defense. Nastasic or Javier Garcia (the midfielder) is likely to play in his absence. Kompany is their best defender by far and large, so him not playing is excellent news for Brendand Rodgers.

Manchester City is the favorite for this game. The market prices City at, 4/5 – 9/10 (1.80 1.90)! It’s understandable as they’re 17 points ahead of Liverpool in the Premiership table after 24 matches. Liverpool still has the Big Club atmosphere surrounding them, and did beat them just last season. At Anfield Liverpool could very well have won this season. The Liverpool odds are just too high.
