This English Premier League opener certainly will create atmosphere at Old Trafford. Last season Manchester United beat Swansea 2-0. Man United are favorites in the market to win again. Here is my take on that.
Team News
Man U has finally gotten their midfielder in Herrera. However, here they will be without Shaw (LB) who is injured. So is midfielder Carrick still. Januzaj (AM) and RVP (FW) has not taken part in the Preseason matches and could be doubtful as starters.
Swansea has lost the following regulars: Vorm (GK), Michu (AM), De Guzman (CM), Davies (LB) and Pozuelo (AM), Hernandez (AM) and Chico (DM) this transfer window. Their talismanic striker Bony could also be on his way out of Dodge. However; I think they’ve strengthened well so far. They’ve brought in Fabianski from Arsenal (GK), Gomis (FW) from Lyon with 14 goals in 33 Ligue 1 apps, Ki from Sunderland (DM), Montero (AM) and Sigurdsson (AM) is back from Spurs.
For this game Swansea will be without Leon Britton (DM/CM) and Marvin Emnes (AM) who signed on permanently for the Swans after being loaned to them last transfer window.
Preseason
Manchester United has shown they are hungry for goals under Van Gaal scoring 18 times in preseason. They also racked up a win against Liverpool while on tour in the US. In their final preseason game Man U beat Valencia 2-1 after a late
Swansea has scored 12 times in preseason and done OK. They did however crash 0-3 to Villarreal at home on Friday. Not the best result!
Betting Tips
After a poor season the Swans now see a large contingent of their players leave. I think Swansea has changed around so much personnel and coaches lately that the team has to suffer in the early stages. Sure, they still have a good core and offensively they have injected more firepower. Bony/Gomis is a striker duo it will hurt to play against. If Sigurdsson can find back to his Swansea best he definitely should add to an already world class attack.
Manchester United will be goal hungry at home. LVG is a very attack minded coach. He will go for the jugular. Obviously he has the players to do that with! Most likely he’ll be able to expose a Swansea defense that to me doesn’t look very solid at will. However, with Bony and Gomis at the other end Swansea will always be a threat.
The atmosphere at Old Trafford will be electric as it is a season opener. The fans will be ready for a show.
All this I think points towards the Over 2.5 goals. Best odds at the minute is with 188bet! A bookmaker you should have in your portfolio of bookmakers.
