WIGAN ATHLETIC V LIVERPOOL PREDICTIONS AND PREVIEW: BETTING STATS AND FACTS

Wigan have escaped the relegation zone and are currently 17^th place with 24 points from 27matches.  They are even on points with 18 placed Villa and just 1 ahead of 19^th placed Reading so it really is very tight at the bottom and the teams in the bottom 3 will change week on week.  Wigan are coming off a hugely important win over Reading where they dominated in a 3-0 win to overtake them in the table.  They must put together a run of results if they want to stay out of the relegation zone though and with 3 straight EPL home matches they should be targeting 6 points.

Liverpool are 8^th in the table but 10 points behind 4^th placed Liverpool and a Champions League place looks out of their reach for another season.  Things have looked really good for Liverpool at times this season but too often they revert back to dropping silly points in games they should be winning.  This is summed up perfectly in their last two league results, a 2-0 defeat at home to WBA in a match they dominated for the first hour to a 5-0 demolition of a Swansea team who were resting a number of their starting line-up.  Consistency is what is needed from Liverpool if they want to compete at the top of the table where they feel they belong.

Again Liverpool are priced like a top 4 side here despite their propensity to drop unnecessary points in games such as this.  If they play the way they did against Swansea or midweek against Zenit then they will comfortably win the match but if they revert to the form from the WBA game then Wigan can punish them.

Liverpool are the quality side here and I’ll be giving them the benefit of the doubt and backing them to win at 1.83 with Paddy Power.
