Augsburg is in 16th position with only five points after eight matches, just one point ahead of Stuttgart in last place. They have won one match, tied two, and lost five. The win came at home against Hannover (currently in 17th position). Their previous Bundesliga match ended 1-1 away to Bayer Leverkusen, after Augsburg took the lead by a Leverkusen own goal, and Leverkusen equalised in the 39th minute. Goalkeeper Marwin Hitz was Augsburg’s best player in that match, and that is quite telling of how the match played out. Leverkusen also missed a penalty, and it would not be an understatement to say that Augsburg was lucky and Leverkusen should have won the match. Next week Augsburg will travel to Netherlands and play AZ in the Europa League. The European cups are difficult for small clubs like Augsburg as they put a strain on the squads.

Augsburg has not reported any new injuries or suspensions. Shawn Parker, Marco Schuster and Max Reinthaler are still out. Some players that could perhaps have featured in the starting XI are doubtful: Daniel Baier, Jeong-Ho Hong, Tobias Werner, Konstntinos Stafylidis, Sascha Molders, and Daniel Opare. So in other words – it is recommended to check the starting XI.

Darmstadt has impressed so far this season, and is in 10th place with 10 points. They have won two matches, tied in four, and lost two. The last three matches have ended 1-1-1, in these they have beaten Werder Bremen 2-1 at home, tied 2-2 away to Dortmund, and in the previous round they lost 2-3 at home against Mainz. There has been plenty of goals in the recent matches and they have managed to score two goals in the last three, and if you include the 0-3 loss to Bayern Munchen then the last four matches has ended with three or more goals.

Not much news to report from Darmstadt when it comes to injuries. Patrick Platins is still out, and same goes for Slobodan Rajkovic. The very capable midfielder Peter Niemeyer is doubtful, plus also Fabian Holland, Mario Vrancic and Junior Diaz.

I believe that Augsburg should not be that big a favourite as the bookies have made them. So my bet is on Darmstadt +0.5 at odds 43/40 (2.08) with BET365.
