This all-Spanish Champions League fixture promises to be a fantastic clash between two teams in form.

Barcelona v Atletico Madrid; form and stats

Barcelona looked down and out, but has now won five matches on the trot with a goal difference of 17-4. Four of these five matches went over 2.5 goals. Barcelona scored two or more in four as well. In other words; Barcelona is still a massive threat going forward. They currently sit second domestically, one point behind Atletico.

Since and including 2011 Barcelona has only been defeated once at home in the Champions League. That interval includes a total of twenty matches. The only loss came last season when Bayern Munich went on to win the title.

Atletico Madrid has won their six latest competitive matches with a goal difference of 12-4. Only two of those six matches went over 2.5 goals though. This indicates Diego Simeone has a good grip on the defensive aspects of the game. When you got players like Diego Costa, Koke, Raul Garcia, Turan and David Villa to create up front you sit pretty.

Atletico Madrid has done well away from home in the Champions League this season. They are actually yet to lose a match. I would like to mention they have beaten strong sides like AC Milan and FC Porto in the process.

Barcelona v Atletico Madrid; history

Since and including 2013 Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have met four times. Three times it has ended in a draw, and once Barcelona has won. It is important to note though that three of these matches were played in Madrid. Also, all three draws went under 2.5 and the Barcelona win was 2-1.

Barcelona – Atletico Madrid; team news

Barcelona is without shot stopper Victor Valdez. Defensive rock Puyol is still out too. For Atletico Madrid, Raul Garcia sits out due to suspension. He has been phenomenal for Atletico Madrid in the Champions League so far with four goals and four assists.

Barcelona v Atletico Madrid; run of play

I cannot see Diego Simeone gambling at this stage in the Champions League. Especially after seeing Barcelona finding some form. It is very likely the visitors will allow over 70% possession to the Catalans and try to get the most out of the handful of good counter attack possibilities they can get throughout the game.

Barcelona – Atletico Madrid; betting tip

The draw, priced at 4.45 with Unibet, cannot be overlooked. It is truly a massive price. Atletico has a fantastic squad, and they lead Barcelona domestically. Odds of 1.50 for the home win just do not make any sense. Recent history shows Atletico has learnt to cope with the offense of Barcelona. I am willing to bet they do it again.
