The first leg of this Champions League fixture ended 1-1 in Istanbul. Chelsea dominated the first half, but could not make their 1-0 lead count as Galatasaray got back into it with a strong second half, where Chedjou made it 1-1. These are my betting predictions:

Chelsea v Galatasaray predictions: form

Chelsea slipped this weekend when facing Aston Villa. They do not have time to regret their mistakes though as Mancini and co are already in London getting ready to enter Stamford Bridge. I do not see any valid reason though to say Chelsea is in poor form.

Galatasaray themselves only drew away to Karabukspor. They’re still on a long unbeaten run, but five of their last seven (all competitions) have ended draw. I would only conclude this side is quietly confident. Their second half against Chelsea in the first leg was very good. If they can get to that level here Mancini will be proud!

Chelsea - Galatasaray predictions: team news

Chelsea has David Luiz (Central Defender) and Samuel Et’o (Striker) back in contention. This clearly is good news for Mourinho. Full back Ashley Cole is a doubt. As he hasn’t been a starter as of late I regard that as relatively unimportant. Frank Lampard (Central Midfielder) is a doubt too. A box to box player like him could be good to have here. However, Ramieres can do that job well.

Galatasaray should have all their most important players (Telles, Chedjou, Sneijder, Drogba, Yilmaz, Inan and Melo) fit and ready.

Chelsea - Galatasaray: run of play

Having an away goal is obviously nice for Chelsea. They do know to park the bus under Mourinho. They also have great players for counter attacks. In the first leg Mourinho surrendered possession to Mancini. Most likely for the mentioned reason! I could see Mourinho allowing the visitors a lot of time on the ball again. I would not be surprised if the possession stats will be very close.

Galatasaray will need to score. However, they will not attack like headless chickens. They will take their time. They played Man United last season, and lost 1-0 after putting up a great fight. They probably deserved more from the game. Possession wise they had approximately the same amount of time on the ball then.

I would believe Mancini will try to crowd the middle of the park in an attempt to make it more difficult for the home side to break and add a cushion for his defenders. They will then most likely be looking for some magic from Yilmaz or Drogba. The latter goes to Stamford Bridge in what is sure to be an emotional return.

Chelsea vs Galatasaray betting tip

It is impossible to overlook 1.44 on Chelsea from Paddy Power. The home side has players back, and it is a type of setting Mourinho loves. This is the big stage. He can park the bus and counter. I respect Galatasaray but on the night I think they will be dwarfed.
