Feyenoord of Netherlands host Turkish side Besiktas in one of the ties of the round. Feyenoord finished 2nd in Eridivisie to gain a place in this year’s competition. They have had a tough couple of years league wise and have not taken the title since 1999. In Champions League they have played 81  games. Winning 33 drawing 23 and losing 25.  This gives them a win percentage of 40%.  They have only feature in two matches in recent times though, losing to Dynamo Kiev home and away.  UEFA rank Feyenoord at 134 which is quite poor, putting them around the level of Dinamo Bucherest and Esbjerg. The side currently is made up exclusively of Dutch players, something not seen in the league for some time. Top players are defenders Khalid Bhoularouz and Stefan de Vrij with youngster Jordy Clasie club captain at just 23 years. Besiktas finished 3^rd in the league to qualify here. They have a strong Turkish core to their side which like Feyenoord is unusual.  Brought in to bolster the squad are strikers Demba Ba and Cenk Tosun plus defender Yalcin Ayhan. Beskitas have played 64 Champions league matches with 20 wins, 12 draws and 32 losses. That gives them a win percentage of 31%.  They have fare a bit better in recent Champs League matches. Playing 16 games with 6 wins, 2 draws and 8 losses.

This looks a very tight game indeed. Besiktas will want to get back to Turkey with a chance of getting through. A low scoring draw or even a 1 goal loss may be enough for them. I don’t see them taking many chances at all and containment will be key for them. Feyenoord will be equally as cagey but I do see them grabbing a low scoring win here. At 1-0 they may feel that is enough and I see a very low score here. Great odds too with 1.80 or 4/5 a pleasant surprise.
