Chile as the hosts have raced into the last 8 after 2 wins and 1 draw and a plus goal difference of +7. They battered Bolivia 5-0 and eased past Ecuador in a straight forward 2-0 win. The 3-3 draw with Mexico was a crazy end to end game that showcased the best and worst of Chile – some poor defensive work coupled with some exhilarating attack. Uruguay made it through as one o the best placed third teams after a stuttering group phase. They won 1, drew 1 and lost 1 with just 2 goals scored and 2 conceded. Shorn of Luis Suarez they are just an ordinary side. They work hard, defend well though but have little attacking impetus.
In this one I don’t see Uruguay committing themselves at all. Another game were Chile will be forced to push forward. I think Uruguay will aim for set piece play and counter attacking. I don’t think they will be unhappy with a penalty shootout. Chile have played well so far and backed by a massive home crowd will attack. I think they are a shoe in for the semis!
