Cracking match up in Ireland in this Europa tie as North hosts South. Its Linfield v Cork City and it should be a humdinger. Linfield are one of the mainstays of Northern Ireland football with 51 league titles but they haven’t taken one since 2012. Cork are 2 times league of Ireland winners with the most recent in 2005. They haven’t had much European competition over recent years with 2 losses since 2007. They were beaten by KR of Iceland and Haka of Finland.
For me the importance of match fitness cannot be understated in these games. Linfield have yet to play a competitive match since early May while Cork are 16 games into their season.
