SWANSEA - MALMO: PREDICTIONS

Swansea make a welcome return to European competition with their 1^st game on the continent since 1992. They host Malmo in a historic tie, an exciting tie for sure.

Swansea reached the hallowed grail of the English Premiership for the 1^st time in 2011. After a season of consolidation that season under Brendan Rogers they improved again last season under Michael Laudrup and picked up their 1^st major trophy in the England League Cup. No resting for the Welshmen either as Laudrup has been busy in the transfer market; In comes Ivory Coast forward Wilfried Bony; Midfielder Jonjo Shelvey from Liverpool; Spanish midfielder Alejandro Pozuelo; Cypriot midfielder Alex Gogic; Slovenian goalkeeper Gregor; Spanish defender Jordi Amat from Espanyol; Spanish midfielder Jose Alberto Canas. For a combined outlay of 23 million Euro, Swansea have lost four players but none will be missed.

Malmo are one of the top sides in Sweden, with 16 national titles; the last as recent as 2010. Malmo will go into this game at peak fitness, with 17 games gone in the national championship (they are 2^nd and 5 points behind leaders Helsingborgs) plus 4 Europa League matches already;  1 win and 1 draw over Drogheda (Ireland) and 2 wins with 9 goals scored over Hibs (Scotland) They have yet to concede a single goal either.

A very difficult tie for Swansea this on their return to European football. All the signs point to a difficult match indeed. Malmo are at full match fitness and have already played 25 games this season across all competitions. I feel Swansea have a far superior squad though and the fitness will be the only difference. Its such a tough game to pick and I am leaving the match betting alone.
