Austria are a real improving nation but they are missing their key man here. Bayern Munich’s David Alaba is the driving force behind them at the moment. He’s managed 8 in the last 15 games from central midfield but is the key to their play.  They top the group at present with 2 wins and 1 draw. They have beaten Montenegro at home and Moldova away with a home draw against Sweden. Again scoring 4 goals in the process but with Alaba bagging 2.  Defender Markus Suttner and midfielder Valentino Lazar miss out but winger Andres Wiemann returns as does striker Marc Janko from suspension. Austria are unbeaten in 2014 though – in a run that stretches over 3 wins and 3 draws. Russia under Capello are going to spring few suprises. As always they went into a major tournament with some promise but delivered little.  In quaifiers though Capello is a different beast. His sides seem to always do well and he is brilliant at preparation game by game. Russia have 1 win and 2 draws so far. They have beaten Liechenstein but drew with Sweden and more surprisingly Moldova. Results for the rest of the year are good though with 4 wins, 3 draws and 1 defeat.   Capello has drafted in two strikers who have not featured for a while Shirikov and Kanunnikov.

Austria without Alaba is a lesser side and Russia and Capello will be keen to take advantage. I don’t see many goals here at all and can see Russia aiming to keep things really tight.  I take them on draw no bet at 1.89 with betvictor.
