Young Boys and Liverpool both have had under pari starts to their respective seasons. Liverpool ha yet to belt a win in four attempts. They are in 17th position in the English premier League. Young Boys are a bit better off with three wins out of eight games.

TEAM NEWS AND RUN OF PLAY

With a potentially season defining fixture against Manchester United on Sunday Liverpool is expected to field several fringe players. Suso, Yesil, Coates and Sahin are all in contention. Perhaps also Morgan will be given the green light to take part. I would be surprised if Downing, Enrique and Carragher isn't playing either. In other words; it is not a full strength Reds that will battle it out. In all fairness: Young Boys is a good side, but do they do really lack the quality to match even the fringe player version of LFC? They have been fairly compact domestically and only let in six goals in eight games. Their Captain Marco Wolfli, the swiss international squad keeper is solid and he has a fairly experienced defense in front of him. Up front they rely on goals from argentinian ace Bobadilla and swiss Vitkieviez (Also a Swiss national team squad player). As late as in 2010 Young Boys beat Tottenham Hotspurs in a qualification game (3-2) at home, but fell 0-4 at the Lane. Liverpool FC has a solid European history as we all know.

Liverpool is going to control this game with their new found love for pass and move tiki-taka style. Brendan Rodgers has continued the main bits and pieces outlined in the style of Kenny Dalglish and Steve Clarke, but he is even more inclined to keep the ball on the ground and move it about. So far, there has been no problem with the play on the park except for the conversion of chances. Liverpool painfully lack through and through goalscorers (at least on paper). Youngsters like Morgan, Suso and Yesil may change that setting though if they blossom fast. Young Boys will probably be having about 35-45% of the possession so they got to make it count. We know they are no walk over as their result against Spurs from 2010 shows, but overall I can't see them do enough to get a win unless Liverpool field a much more uncompetitive side than what we expect. That is very unlikely. (Do however wait with placing the bets until you see the lineups).

I go for the away win. Liverpool has clearly improved the bench, and it is high standard players that will run out on the Stade de Swisse on Thursday night. 2.62 at Betfair is too good, even if Liverpool perhaps rest Sterling, Suarez, Agger, Skrtl, Johnson, Gerrard and perhaps Reina. Some of these players will also be on the bench and can jump in need be.

Asian Handicap predictions

I must say the draw no bet, 1.82 offered by Pinnacle is tempting. Liverpool will be more than good enough to dominate possession over the full 90 minutes. They may perhaps struggle a bit the first 20 minutes as the dynamics of the team isn't set (given all the fringe entries). After that however, it should click with players at this level. I think these odds are good.

Total Goals predictions

Tough one to call, looks like a coin flip really. Over 2.5 at 2.25 with Paddy Power therefore looks interesting as a value play. At first glance you may think this is nuts, but think about it. Liverpool easily will get 20 attempts. Yes, they fail to convert in the EPL, but this is not EPL opposition. The extra time that will be given by the defenders is easily the difference between a goal or three. Also, the home side will be venturing forward often enough to warrant some goal threat on their own.
