World cup - Group A betting tips

By Ronny on May 18, 2014 in Football, Sports

The best Group winner odds on offer at the time of writing are as follows:

Brazil

1.25

BET365

Mexico

10.00

Coral

Croatia

10.00

Ladbrokes

Cameroon

34.00

BetVictor

Mexico has a squad made up of mainly domestically based players, and some semi-decent players plying their trade in Europe and South America. The team managed only 2 out of 10 possible wins in the CONCACAF group stages, but qualified after beating New Zealand in a two legged playoff. For me, this is not one of the strongest Mexican squads we’ve seen.

Croatia is sending a very strong side. In defense you find veteran Darijo Srna and the highly rated Dejan Lovren. In midfield you find top names like Luka Modric and Ivan Raktic. Up front you find the strong striker Mario Mandzukic. Around these you also have more than decent quality.

Cameroon qualified for the World cup after winning their initial group, and then disposing of Tunisia in a two-legged affair. Looking at the rooster I can immediately say they have a very solid defense. Several of the squad members are players in their best age, and they play regularly for good clubs. I am not too convinced about their forward lineup at world cup level. Eto’o is still a good player, but he will need the right type of service. Can he get it? Not so sure.

Brazil has to be my; to win the group betting tips. They’ve got a great squad with players who play for the team and make each other better. With home support to top that, as well as an experienced coach who has won the World Cup in the past (2002), I can’t really see them failing against opponents like these. BET365 offers 1.25. It looks like a winner to me.

To finish second in Group betting tips

I definitely rate Croatia a better team than this Mexican edition. 2.62 are on offer from Paddy Power for Croatia to finish second. I definitely want to get on that before those odds are long gone. Those odds are much higher than for instance Mexico not to qualify (1.75 with Winner). Of course that is a bit like comparing apples and bananas as Cameroon could spring a surprise. I do however think that is relatively unlikely.
