Spain v Uruguay Preview
Spain hasn't lost a game since the friendly away to England back in November 2011. In their last fifteen matches they are 12-3-0. They've als a o only let in six goals in that interval. Spain has brought a fantastic squad to Brazil. The only question mark I have is how their central defense will fare. However, with the player material they have in Albiol, Pique and Ramos they should be fine. Those are very high level players. Defensively in midfield both Busquets and Martinez are world class. When it comes to the midfield and attack, Spain has mouthwatering potential. We all have seen Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas, Cazorla, Mata, Silva and Navas are capable of. Silva, Torres, Pedro and Soldado is also one heck of a forward line.
Uruguay has had a troubled period in the South American World Cup Qualification. They're still not counted out though, and their 1-0 away win in Venezuela might have gotten them back on winning ways. Especially since a slightly reduced France were beaten 1-0 just before that. The talent this side possess is definitely not to be doubted. Uruguay has their strongest squad available for the tournament. So up front heavy biters like Suarez, hard hitters like Cavani and the experienced Forlan will be playing.
Overall the Uruguay side is very solid. In defense they got the likes of Pereira (Benfica) and Godin. Lugano (Malaga) and Caceres (Juventus) are also good players, but aren' regulars for their teams. The midfield has solid names for both defensive and offensive duties such as Gargano and Pereira of (Inter), Rodriguez (Atletico Madrid), Ramirez (S'Hampton), Gonzalez (Lazio).
The two sides met in February (in Doha). Both sides fielded strong a strong team on the night and Spain won 3-1.
Betting Tips
Allthough Uruguay has a very strong side by every standard of measurment I just don't think one can bet against this Spanish side. Their last fifteen games stats indicate 1x2 they should be priced at 1.25. Even if I look at only their last ten away games the odds should be 1.25. When Betsson offers 1.62 (8/13) I am very tempted to scream: VALUE! Obviously this is a bet that has to be placed today!
With Uruguay opting for more defensive duties lately (two under games in a row) I think we should see a game Under 2.5. Spain will play their control by possession football as usual and be happy with a 1-0 win. Also, all three of Spain's latest World Cup Qualifiers have gone Under. Betsson offers 1.80 (4/5) and i think a bet is justified.
