URUGUAY - TAHITI: PREDICTIONS

The 3^rd match of Group B sees Uruguay looking for a healthy win against the Oceanic minnows Tahiti. Uruguay will need to keep one eye on the Nigeria v Spain game as an African win will leave Uruguay needing to inflict heavy damage on the Tahiti goal.

Uruguay go into the game on the back of a slightly fortunate victory against Nigeria. A 2-1 success was gained by the clinical finishing of the Uruguayans as Nigeria had the better of the play. This Uruguay side did not perform in the opening game against World Champions Spain, but then who does? A 2-1 defeat does not tell the whole story as Uruguay were dominated in all areas. This Uruguay side boasts one of the best strike forces in world football with Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez backed up by Diego Forlan.

Tahiti have won a lot of friends in this tournament but in truth they have been shambolic at best. With the zeal of a bunch of amateurs they have chased and harried in both games so far but with a goal difference of -15 they are hopelessly out of their depth. Nigeria toiled for long periods but still managed 6 while a reserve Spain side managed to stroll to 10-0 without ever showing the usual Spanish verve. Tahiti currently sit just above Luxembourg in the FIFA rankings and for me would struggle even against them.
