Predictions

Both the Netherlands and Germany goes into this tournament high on confidence. They eased through their qualification, Netherlands winning six out of eight games (21-3 Goal Difference), Germany winning nine out of ten (39-9 Goal Difference). In the playoffs Holland beat Slovakia 4-0 on aggregate while Germany disposed of Switzerland, 4-2 on aggregate.

The Netherlands is bringing a fairly experienced squad given this level. Most of the players play in Holland, but up front they're bringing Ola John of Benfica and Luuk De Jong of Gladbach. It's Georginio Wijnaldum of PSV however that is the top scorer for this side. In defense their brightes light is Stefan De Vrij (Feyenoord). In midfield Kevin Strootman (PSV), Marco van Ginkel (Vitesse) and Leroy Fer (Twente) are very talented in my opinion.

Germany has a very solid side built on Bundesliga players. The brightest light in the sqaud for me is Lewis Holteby of Spurs, but what strikes me is the average high quality of the squad. In defense they got the likes of Sobiech and Jantschke who have had good seasons. In midfield besides Holteby the germans got Sebastian Rudy, Christoph Moritz and Patrick Hermann that has impressed me this season among others. Among their forwards, Peniel Mlapa of Gladbach is probably the best, but they got so many who can come in and do a good job.

Betting tips

Traditionally this is somewhat of a grudge-battle. I'm quite sure both sides will go at it fiercly, yet composed. Both sides must be very confident in their abilitiy. Overall, Germany is regarded as the favorite (Second Favorite for the tournament behind Spain). However, for me: This Dutch side looks a real threat too.

With two so high scoring sides the draw usually is less likely. If you look at the last combined ten matches of these sides you'll see only one of those ended a draw. Looking at the team sheets I just can't help thinking the Dutch are value at 2.90 (19/10) with BET365. For me they match Germany player for player. In this game I can actually see them controlling the central midfield, and that is usually crucial if you want to win matches that very easily becomes tight.

Total Goals

1.95 (19/20) for Under 2.5 looks OK for a bet. Both sides prefer going forward, and both sides have excellent finishers, I know! But, given the history between these two nations and the respect they HAVE to give each other with squads like this I do think it is more likely we'll see composed versions of their free flowing attacking play. Also, if you look at the teams comined four playoff games, 3 out of those 4 ended under 2.5.
