Interwetten - General Information

Interwetten is a Malta-based online bookmaker that has operated in the online industry since 1997 providing its services to over a million clients from 200 different countries. It was originally founded in 1990 as a telephone operated betting service based in Vienna, covering just football and ice hockey markets. Nowadays Interwetten has a very respectable name in this business. It is a great choice for novices as well as for experienced punters who can take advantage of a comprehensive live betting offer, live streams, a solid casino and a wide array of interesting games. Continue reading our sportsbook review for more general information on Interwetten.

Interwetten sportsbook review – financial matters

Interwetten enjoys a good image from this point of view although it is part of a financial group made up of companies that do not publicise their financial status. It accepts several account currencies including GPB, USD, EUR, NOK, DKK, SGD, RON, CZK and several others.

Interwetten sportsbook review – website performance and usability

Interwetten welcomes its clients with a user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing website which was relaunched in April 2009. The entire content is very well-structured in categories addressed to both newcomers and experts, and navigation is straightforward due to the event drop list on the left side on the homepage. Live Betting, Bestseller and Last Minute bet lists are clearly featured in the center of the page. Even on low screen resolutions those annoying scrollbars are far and few between. Overall the website is quite simple and conserative yet effective with high usability and performance. The information is easily accessible, and did we mention that you can use your smartphone too? The website is localised into English, Czech, German, Greek, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese and Turkish. Not an overwhelming list of languages considering the size of this bookmaker, and we find it a bit odd that none of the mutually intelligible Scandinavian languages are represented. Swedish, being the largest language, would make sense – especially since Interwetten's ice hockey coverage is good and includes both Swedish Elitserien and Allsvenskan.

The sign-up process is simple and the form itself very well designed. Security is a priority for Interwetten and thus the entire system is protected by a high security firewall in line with what banks use. The confidential pieces of data are transmitted in SSL-encoded form. A welcome initiative is the implementation of certain guidelines for prevention of gambling addiction. It sustains the code of behavior provided by the European Betting Association which focuses on helping punters gamble responsibly.

Interwetten sportsbook review – customer service

The Interwetten customer support team is available 24/7, and clients can get in touch with them via email or telephone. Unfortunately they do not offer a live chat option, something we regard as a rather big drawback. It is becoming the norm these days, and we wish they would jump on the bandwagon sooner rather than later. On a positive note their support team usually answers emails in less than 30 minutes. In line with their website language localisation they are of course also offering multilingual support, and from our experience they seem well-trained and professional. Interwetten also offers a number of tutorials which show novice punters the ropes. The overhaul in 2009 even implemented a dedicated newcomer section, giving them a flying start.

Interwetten sportsbook review – payment methods

There is a wide range of deposit methods available at Interwetten, ranging from credit cards (Visa, Diners Club, Eurocard, Mastercard), Paysafe card to Skrill (Moneybookers) and bank wire. Minimum deposit is €10 and the company charges up to 3% fee for credit card deposits. Slightly more than the norm, but hardly a dealbreaker. Moreover, when a client deposits with a credit card he will have to request a cheque or bank transfer in order to withdraw. This takes 3-10 days. Skrill seems to be the fastest withdrawal method (one day) and also the only one entirely free. All other alternatives take 3-5 days. It is worth mentioning that the company offers four free bank wire withdrawals per month – each additional one is charged €5. ID must always be submitted before requesting the first withdrawal.

Interwetten sportsbook review – the betting experience

Interwetten is one of the world's leading online bookmakers which enjoys the loyalty of over a million of clients. They offer a choice of more than 8.000 different bets per week on more than 45.000 sporting events annually from about 50 countries. Unlike many other bookmakers, Interwetten boasts a straightforward betting procedure where clients simply choose their sport and competition, read the odds and choose among the options available. We are particularly fond of the very effective tab solutions as they provide a better overview and less clutter.

We dare say that Interwetten odds rarely are the most competitive overall, but they often have great prices on favourites, opposed to the competition. On offer are the traditional outright odds, Halftime/fulltime, Correct score, Double chance, Over/under, European and Asian handicap and much more. The handicap betting leaves a lot to be desired, though. The minimum bet at Interwetten is €1, and the great betting offer – especially on football – is very attractive. Apart from the conventional simple bets, accumulators and bet systems, there is also a range of special bets which completes the offer.

Interwetten – betting markets

Interwetten boasts a highly generous sportsbook offering that can rival most of the top online entertainment companies out there. The company has built a strong brand image over the years through the vast choice of betting options, incredible bonuses and great odds. Interwetten focuses on simplicity, placing everything in the hands of the user, and is among the easiest to use of the sportsbooks we cover in our sportsbook review section. Overall it is a reliable and trustworthy bookmaker that boasts a wide array of betting opportunities tailored to each and every customer's preferences.

Interwetten doesn't operate just as a sportsbook, but also as an online casino offering tournaments and a variety of Vegas-style games. Premium Casino, Casino Deluxe and Live Casino are open 24/7, enabling easy access to Roulette,  Blackjack, Slots and Scratch Cards. There are virtually hundreds of hot games packed with appealing bonuses and promotions. Interwetten provides interesting choices for everyone, no matter what tickles your fancy. Sports betting, online casino, scratch cards and games – they are all very attractive in diversity and implementation. Placing a bet here is as simple as it looks given that the website has sections designed for the newcomer, the professional and the expert punters.

Although Interwetten offers a total of 23 sports, there is a multitude of markets within them which is comprehensive from all points of view. The most impressive offering is the football part which offers a wide range of football events covered by 10-20 markets per match. Despite the fact that the bookmaker doesn't offer smaller or 'exotic' competitions, there are still over 8.000 events to bet on – weekly. Besides, there are also some less popular sports, such as biathlon, nordic skiing and schwingen (Swiss wrestling). Interwetten provides the conventional European and Asian handicap, Halftime/fulltime, Correct score, Outright, Double chance, Over/under and much more. Indeed, there are numerous types of bets available, but a more ground-breaking feature is a choice between a Flash-based browser client and a download version. An option like this is quite common when it comes to poker and casino, but not sportsbook.

Interwetten has over 3.000 unique visitors per day who take advantage of the variety of markets provided. It's all rather user-friendly, and punters can combine bets (accumulators), something the nature of betting exchanges don't allow you to do. Interwetten also calculates winnings without selected bets for you.

Interwetten – bonuses

In our next part of the Interwetten sportsbook review series we take a look at the bonuses they offer. As a new customer with Interwetten you can get welcome bonuses that work across almost all of their products so you get the bonus for sportsbook, casino, live casino, scratch cards and games. Continue reading for more details, but bear in mind that all promotions are subject to change and do not apply to all countries.

Interwetten sportsbook review – 100% welcome bonus up to €100

The 100% welcome bonus is a very flexible offer. All you need to do is register and make a deposit of minimum €10 within 10 days. You need to place the stakes required to activate the bonus within 14 days, but the good thing is that the bonus is activated and released gradually. The deposit and bonus can be used across almost products (one exception is the games placed in the category skill games), or you can use it all in just one product.  Another good thing is that it is not only the first deposit that counts, you can get the same bonus on subsequent deposits as long as you make the deposits within 10 days of registering and until the max €100 bonus has been reached.

Interwetten sportsbook review – 100% sportsbook bonus

It is the same bonus you get for all products, but the terms and conditions vary depending on product. For the sportsbook, the wagering requirement is 5 times the deposit, meaning that if you deposit €100 then you will have to place bets of total €500 in order to get the full bonus. However, because the bonus is released gradually, you will for instance receive €20 bonus after wagering €100 and do not have to wager €500 before receiving any bonus (like with some other sportsbooks). For bets to qualify for the wagering requirement, their odds must be at least 1.70, which is a normal and understandable rule. Another thing to note is that you cannot bet on more than one outcome per match/event, if you bet on two or more outcomes then your bonus will be invalid in its entirety (such as betting on both outcomes in a tennis match, which obviously is a big no-no).

Interwetten sportsbook review – 100% casino bonus, games bonus, and scratch cards bonus

If you decide to use your deposit and bonus in either the casino, games, or scratch cards, then the requirements are pretty standard. Your deposit amount must be wagered at least 30 times, but different types of games count differently for the wagering requirement so keep this in mind when playing. The games that have 30 times requirement are Slots, Scratch Cards, and Soft Games, other types of games have higher requirements. Regardless of this, the games Interwetten offer are easy and fun to play, and the bonus is flexible so you can make several smaller deposits and mix between some sportsbook bets and casino or the other games on offer if you like, so sign up and start playing and you are in for an entertaining time.

Interwetten - Casino

Interwetten Casino has become a very attractive place to visit as it offers a wide variety of opportunities, one more exciting than the other. And remember that the single-wallet solution also comprises a games room and a sportsbook, giving you access to a complete online gambling experience with just one account. Continue reading this part of our sportsbook review series to get more info on the Interwetten products.

Interwetten sportsbook review – Casino game diversity

Interwetten Casino contains more than 350 casino games, and has a lot to offer in terms of diversity. Clients can choose between both a Flash-version and a download version. There is always the option of playing with virtual money, but the generous and extensive range of bonuses and promotions for real money games makes it a bit superfluous to be honest. Unlike many other online casinos which offer pretty much the same games, Interwetten is innovative offering not only Table Games, Slots, Card Games Scratch Games, Skill Games and Jackpot Games, but also hundreds of games that you are unlikely to find anywhere else. The most sought-after slot games are Dragon Island, Flowers, Gonzo's Quest, Gold Rush, The Rat Pack, Arabian Nights and Mega Moolah. French Roulette, Baccarat and Blackjack are other popular classics, while a hybrid casino poker section showcases All American, Casino Hold'em, Let It Ride Pro, Deuces Wild – to name a few.

Interwetten sportsbook review – Live Casino

Live Casino games are also very attractive and complete the Interwetten Casino experience. In the Live Casino you get the true casino experience while being online, and you can for instance beat a real dealer in black jack or see the dealer spin the roulette wheel and watch where the ball stops.

Interwetten sportsbook review – Casino bonuses and promotions

Interwetten Casino offers a variety of sign up bonuses, monthly reloads, tournaments and free spins. At the moment there is a 100% deposit bonus up to €100 for new customers, which in general must be wagered at least 30 times within 14 days before cashing in. But note that different games count differently when you are clearing your bonus. For instance, Slots, Scratch Cards, Soft Games count 100% towards the wagering requirements. Other games count less – such as 50% for Roulette. Black Jack, Baccarat, Hi-Lo, Casino Poker count 25%, while Video Poker count 10%. There is unfortunately no refer-a-friend bonus, but you regularly get new promotions such as the 100% loaylty/reload deposit bonus up to €200 they are running now.

The casino games are divided into two casinos, the Casino Deluxe powered by Microgaming and the Premium casino powered by Net Entertainment. Both products are packed with unique and useful features including live scoring, gaming history and top ten updates that enable the tracking and monitoring of your gaming activities.

Interwetten – live betting

In our last part of the Interwetten sportsbook review article series we take a look at their live betting product. Live betting in general can be a very enjoyable experience, and if done right even a profitable one. Interwetten has been around for a long time, they know how to do live betting and their product is highly competitive.

Interwetten sportsbook review – the live betting console

The live betting product is easy to find on the website, it is flash-based and when selected it opens in a new window. The layout is pretty standard, with available events on the left hand side and the bet slip on the right. In the middle of the window you can see your chosen event and available betting markets, or you can select the event calendar to get the full overview. It is easy to toggle between the various views and easy to add events to your event selection list (a type of favourites/short list of events) for quicker manouvring and betting live on several events going on at the same time. You can also set reminders on upcoming events. Another feature that many will like is the one-click-bet, where you set a standard bet size and afterwards you can bet via only one click, saving you some precious time.

What perhaps could have been a bit better is the flexibility of the left hand side event list, we wish we could remove/hide some sports or events there like we can with many other sportsbooks. But this is all a matter of taste, once you get used to how the Interwetten live betting works it is very easy and quick to use.

Interwetten sportsbook review – betting markets

Interwetten has a very competitive live betting selection especially for football (soccer) matches. They cover leagues from all over the world so you can pretty much always find a football match to bet on live. The number of betting markets available per match is competitive too, as they for most matches offer 10-20 in-running markets.

While football is by far the biggest sport for live betting, they also offer a great number of tennis, basketball, and ice hockey matches, all with several in-running markets. Other sports such as volleyball, handball, snooker, and darts are represented, and although not everyone has heard of all of these sports, they are indeed huge sports in several countries and the offer by Interwetten is well suited to satisfy the customers from a wide range of countries.

Interwetten sportsbook review – odds attractiveness and betting limits

Interwetten offers decent odds on most of their live betting markets, although they are not that often offering best odds and if you take time to look around you will quite often find other sportsbooks that offer better odds. When it comes to betting limits, meaning how much money you can place per bet or per event, then Interwetten is not regarded as one of the sportsbooks that accepts the highest stakes. However, how much you can bet will vary greatly depending on the sport/event you bet on and your betting pattern. If you like to bet on the biggest sports or football leagues and place your own bets (not only follow betting tips by others), then you will be very happy with the Interwetten live betting service.

Interwetten sportsbook review – live score and live video stream

In addition to the very easy to use live betting application, Interwetten also displays all the latest live scores and general statistics (both delivered by Betradar). Many of the events you can also follow via a live video stream, even though this is not available for all events, it is a very useful feature as you can bet on and follow events that are not covered by your tv provider.

Interwetten sportsbook review – end notes

Interwetten is a highly reliable sportsbook that offers their customers great products and services. It might not be perfect for those placing high stakes or wanting the best odds, but the combination of a very easy to use website and a good selection of sportsbook bets plus high quality casino and other games makes it one of the best out there, and we have no problem recommending it to you.
