Two sides likely to struggle in England Championship go head to head at St Andrews, Its Birmingham v Brighton. Birmingham have started the season with     and had a couple of shakey performances. Losing 2-0 in opening match to Middlesbrough isn’t the worst result as I do fancy Boro to do well this season. They were iffy in the expected romp over lower league Cambridge in Capital One Cup. After 90 minutes they were 1-1 and had to go to extra time. A couple of injury time goals were good enough for progression but not ideal preparation for this game. Birmingham are still in monetary strife and cannot really splash the cash. Gavin Gunning will miss most of the season after a serious injury. Brighton are in a similar situation to Birmingham. They have lost some key players over the summer. Left the club include Leonardo Ulloa, Matthew Upson and Will Buckley, leaving the Brighton squad fairly thin. They opened up with a 1-0 home loss to Sheffield Wednesday, a performance that many observers rank as one of the worst in recent years.  They did manage a confidence boosting 2-0 win over lower league Cheltenham in midweek though.

Birmingham have not won at home for 18 matches which is a ridiculous record.  They face up to a Brighton side they could be battling with for relegation at the end of the year.  I see goals here as both sides have lost quality in back areas. I don’t predict a result as this could go anyway, both teams to score is the best bet for me.
