Atletico Madrid withstood massive late pressure to win 1-0 against Villarreal on the weekend. Atletico Madrid looke really heavy and tired! Diego Simeone had to cope without two of his best players: Diego Costa (Star Striker) and Arda Turan (Attacking Midfielder). That could explain the effort somewhat. Both could make it for this game!

Barcelona beat Real Betis 3-1 this weekend but failed to shine in a poor match. Here they will be without Valdez (Keeper) and central defenders Puyol and Pique. This means Bartra or Montoya will partner Macherano in the heart of the defense.

Atletico Madrid – Barcelona: Run of play

Barcelona will as usual have most of the possession. It will be down to what they can do with the possession advantage. With Messi scoring for fun again they will surely fancy their chances.

Atletico Madrid has a very important away goal to protect, so they will probably not challenge Barcelona possession wise. This will be a defensive job more than anything (Especially if Costa and Turan will be missing).

Atletico is on top of the league table, and has been solid all year. They’ll have further confidence in having held Barcelona to a goalless draw last time the two met at the Calderon (January). However, I doubt they will have more than 40% possession, if that.
