Huge game in Azerbaijan for Glasgow Celtic as they travel to Agdam to face Qarabag in UCL. Celtic are not at the levels they were 2/3 years ago. Celtic have always been terrible travellers and even with the excellent sides of yesteryear they would regularly collapse outside of Celtic Park. This team is a poor Celtic vintage and they cannot be grouped with the Celtic teams of old. They regularly sell their better players and cannot reach the levels of old.  Celtic opened with a comfortable 2-0 home win over low ranked Ross County. They played well within themselves and coasted the 2^nd half, obviously all eyes on this tie. They do have 3 wins from 3 wins already, the 1^st leg win and beating Stjarnan (Iceland) 6-1 on aggregate with home and away wins. Celtic are ranked 55 in Europe by UEFA.  Key striker Leigh Griffiths was withdrawn after 18 mins of that game with a slight know. He will be a huge loss if missing here. Qarabag of Azerbaijan might seem like a team of nobodies from the back of beyond but they are a real improving team on the European stage.  They are ranked 151 by UEFA, but will move up for sure. They have 56 games and show 21 wins, 15 draws and 21 losses. Recent campaigns have seen a group stage participation last season with wins over finalists Dnipro and draws with Inter and St Etienne.  This year they beat Rudar of Montenengro 1-0 over 2 legs.

Celtic just don’t travel, they have lost and lost heavily over the years on the road. I don’t think they have a particularly good side this year either. Agdam is currently experiencing a massive heatwave and temperatures are close to 40c. Although played later in the evening I just don’t see Celtic adapting at all. The pitch is a potato field apparently too and this all adds up to a tough trip to Azerbaijan for Celtic.
