VALENCIA – LILLE PREDICTIONS AND PREVIEW – BETTING STATS

Valencia has had a poor start to the la liga season by their standards. They currently sit in 10^th place with 8 points from 6 games, 10 points off leaders Barcelona. They have won their last two home matches however against Celta Vigo and Zaragoza. Their first Champions League game was a loss away to Bayern Munich, 2-1.

Lille has also had a very poor start to their domestic season, sitting a disappointing 15^th in Ligue 1 with just 7 points from 7 matches. They have not won for 6 matches in Ligue 1 and lost their most recent game 2-0 at Rennes. They have conceded a goal in every match and 3 of their 7 games have gone over 2.5 Goals. Their first Champions League group stage game was a poor 3-1 home loss to BATE.

TEAM NEWS AND RUN OF PLAY

Both teams will be disappointed by their start to the season both domestically and in the Champions League and will need to improve drastically if they are to match their finishing positions from last season.

Valencia would have been confident going into the season that they could match their 3^rd place finish in la liga last season and despite a large turnover of players they would feel they came into this season with a stronger squad than last year. Their only major loss was left back Jordi Alba who moved on to Barcelona. I expect Valencia to bounce back from their difficult start and to pick up points which will leave them in the fight for Champions League places come the second half of the season.

Lille it seems hasn’t learned to cope with the loss of their star playmaker Eden Hazard who moved for €40m to Chelsea. They spent around €16m on replacements including €10m on Marvin Martin from Sochaux but they look a shade of the team that won the title in 2010-2011 or finished 3^rd last year.
