Spain 2014 Winner odds preview and betting predictions
Spain has dominated on the international stage for quite some time. At times the Spaniards have been unplayable. With excellent players in all positions they have made opponents chase the ball for 90 minutes. Usually without any luck. It must have been a shocker for the Spanish to lose 3-0 to Brazil in the final of the Confederations Cup in 2013. Finally someone could go toe to toe with the Spanish and challenge them at their own game.
The team
One could argue that one of the leaders in the team, Xavi is over the top. Casillas, another leader figure is also most likely in decline. Up front they haven't really found a top notch Number 9 either. Torres has been out of form in Chelsea, Llorente of Juventus hasn't always been favored and Villa of Atletico Madrid is also ageing.
On the other hand: Negredo has been top drawer for Manchester City in an advanced attacking role. He has been played up front for Spain in recent friendlies and I suspect he will again come kick off in Brazil. Xavi is of course hard to replace. This creative genius has been at the heart of many Spanish attacks. However, in Fabregas (Barcelona), Koke (Atletico Madrid), Isco (Real Madrid), Alcantara (Bayern Munich) they got worthy replacements to work with Iniesta who still has a good few years in him. In goal they got pretty good keepers to choose from. Pepe Reina might get his chance here after being solid for Napoli this season.
Other than that this squad looks rock solid. Spain has an excellent defense with the likes of Albiol and Ramos. With the likes of Navas and Pedro on the wings they will always have speed, ability and extra goals. I actually think this Spanish side now has added another dimension to it's game. With the players they have they can be more direct if they choose to be (not extremely likely). Xavi was the silky smooth passer of the ball who always would spew passes around with 90%+ passing success. The men taking his place in the Spanish side all probably are well under his passing capabilities, but they can go forward with pace and control. 8.00 (7/1) for this side looks value to me over at Bet365.I do not see this price go up during the FIFA World championship. I rather think those odds will sink. It could therefore be a good opportunity to buy these odds now, and sell them later locking in profit.
