England Premier League Betting Tips - Everton vs Manchester United

By howtobet on August 16, 2012 in Football

United will be looking to bounce back from the disappointment of losing the EPL title in such a harsh fashion last season.  They are seen as second favourites to City for the title this season but have been active in the transfer market to try and bridge any gap.  Everton will be hoping to avoid their normal poor start and are busy putting the money they received from the sale of Rodwell to good use.

United will be buoyed this season by the return from injury of Vidic and Fletcher, two of their most important players.  Along with the purchase of Kagawa and Van Persie the team is shaping up to be an improvement on last year.  The only downside is that players such as Scholes, Giggs and Ferdinand are another year older and may not be as effective as they were last year.

Everton are attempting to freshen up their squad and have sold veteran Timmy Cahill and replaced him with Steven Naismith, 7 years his junior.  They have bought Pienaar back from Spurs after a loan spell in the second half of last season and are still on the hunt for more players.  With the €15m they received for Jack Rodwell Everton are believed to be after striker Kevin Mirallas who would give them more firepower going forward.

Total Goals

The market sees this as a fairly low scoring game with under 2.5 goals favourite at 1.89 against the over at 2.06.  Everton have a solid and well organised defence that is carrying on from last year and I don’t think we can expect a repeat of the crazy 4-4 draw these teams played out at Old Trafford last season.

Asian Handicap

The Asian market sees an away win as slightly more likely than a home win or draw combined.  The handicap is set at Manchester United -0.5  @ 1.92 and Everton +0.5 @ 2.03.  This line could well change depending on the purchases of either club before the weekend, if the Van Persie transfer goes through for United and he is fit to start this will improve their chances but also with Everton chasing some targets they may improve before the match also.  Check back at howtobet.net for the latest news and betting tips nearer kickoff!
