Danish coach Olsen looks to start with the same side who which beat Netherlands. For Portugal Hugo Almeida has recovered from flu and should replace the ineffectual  Helder Postiga.

Head to Head: 12 matches played.

  • Denmark Wins 3
  • Draws 2
  • Portugal Wins 7

Key Battles: Denmark defence v Ronaldo. The key man for Portugal, possibly the only threat. In a team of talented individuals its rather surprising that no other player seems to step up. Anywhere close to Denmark's box Ronaldo will be looking to take aim. Germany seemed to deal with him by pushing him wide and it was effective. The Denmark defence played a really great game against Netherlands and central defensive partners Kjaer and Agger were both excellent. The whole back line will need to be focused to keep Ronaldo at bay.

Denmark attack v Portugal defence. Denmark's win over Netherlands was perhaps more surprising for the fact they didn't just defend. They were equally as dangerous as the Dutch. Bendtner was willing lone front man but most impressive was the support play of Rommedahl, Eriksen and Krohn-Dehli. The Dutch were time and time again exposed.Portugal's defence is full of good, experienced and top level players but doesn't seem to fit together. The Portuguese will have to change their mentality a bit and try to push on for the win.

Betting Tips:

We were quite surprised by the odds quoted for this match after the opening games. Denmark more than matched Netherlands and deserved victory.Portugal were awful until Germany scored then decided to play but it was too little to late. There is no doubt Portugal are a talented team, Ronaldo maybe the best player in world football.  However they seem tentative on the pitch and Ronaldo tries to do too much.Denmark +0.5 on Asian Handicap looks a good bet at 2.03. Ronaldo "Score Anytime looks good at 2.40, expect him to be trying to shoot from all angles.
