Week 1 in Belgium and reigning champions Anderlecht look to have a relatively easy opening game against newly promoted Mouscron. They kicked off the season with a win in last weeks super cup, with an injury time own goal earning them a 2-1 win. The most successful club in Belgium by some way, Anderlecht clinched their third successful title last term, though it took the play-off section to do it, as they ended the regular season a full ten points behind Standard. A few of their star names have exited for pastures new, namely Biglia, Kouyate and Bruno and injury means Suarez and Van Den Borre will miss this game. As yet only Brazilian Wigor is a new signing, but the squad still looks strong enough to challenge for another title. Mouscron finished only fourth in the second tier and were promoted via the play-offs. Almost certain to struggle given their limited funds and squad options they could not have asked for a tougher start to the season.
