ATLETICO PR – CORINTHIANS: PREDICTIONS

Atletico PR face a tough task to try and haul themselves off the bottom of Brazil Serie A, a visit of reigning World Champions Corinthians.

Atletico PR are stuck near the bottom of the table after a disastrous opening period of Brazil Serie A. With 1 win, 3 draws and 3 defeats only Nautico sit below them after 7 games. A solitary win over a poor Ponte Preta side is all PR have to show for the opening lot of games.  They have been poor in the majority of games too and without a win at home is a bad sign in Brazil.

Corinthians continue to favour the power and control game that made them successful over the past few season and if something is not broke why fix it. With average goals per game of just 1.33 (by far the lowest in the league) they continue with the really controlled play. Corinthians appeared to be stepping up their game after a slow start but their run was derailed by a slightly weakend Atletico Mineiro. The result was certainly a surprise as Corinthians were backed off the boards as the visitors were playing a Copa Libertadores final a few days later. The gamble failed though as Corinthians played a sluggish match and were beaten 1-0.
