Santos seem to be on the up after another improved performance, Portuguesa are proving tough nut to crack though and have only lost once so far.

Santos were hoping to tie up the transfer of club legend Robinho but alas it was not to be, it seems wages were the sticking point and it is one of the annoying things about football when a multi-millionaire chooses money over the club that made him. Another travesty is the miniscule amount Santos actually received for Neymar, with his father receiving the lion’s share of the transfer. Leaving Peixe with just €8 million, loose change and with little chance of replacing Neymar with anyone decent.   Santos sit in 11^th with 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats, but still remain unbeaten at Vila Belmiro. Santos are brought together by the fact the majority of the team is a product of their prodigious youth programme.

Portuguesa are one of the smaller teams in Sao Paulo and indeed in the league itself. With just 1 runner up to show since the inception of the league they are never expected to maintain a challenge.
