Swansea move to the League Cup after a fantastic start in the England Premier league. Two win and 8 goals see them perched near the top. Coach Laudrup has already spoken of resting players so Barnsley may have a chance of an upset.
Swansea have started brilliantly, demolishing Q.P.R away 5-0 and West Ham at home 3-0. Both games involved expansive, passing football. The squad is not packed with super stars and big names. But players picked up from around Europe and players already proven at Swansea. Michu in the hole looks to have the goalscoring touch. Equally impressive have been new boys Chico and de Guzman. Swansea have Angel Rangle playing well and Nathan Dyer and Danny Graham up top performing well. Barnsley were forced to change a winning side after injuries, in came Bobby Hassell and Kelvin Etuhu to replace John Stones and Matty Done, the formation remained the same as they started with the orthadox 4-4-2. After and excellent opening day result with a fantastic 1-0 over much fancied Middlesborough, Barnsley were on the receiving end of two thumpings. losing 3-1 to Wolves away and a 5-1 loss away to Brighton. The opening day win played emphasis on dangerous deliveries into the Boro box and threatening from set pieces. They had an experienced Boro defence all over the place and Marlon Harewood in particular was a handful. However they never got going against a top level Wolves side who made light work of them. They were totally destroyed by a Brighton side who threw everything at them for 90 minutes.
Betting Prediction - Laudrup has already said he will rest players for this game and although Swansea have a top first eleven they don't have an awful lot of depth. The Swans are on a real high though and face a Barnsley side in disarray. It's hard to see an upset here but the odds are pitched just right and there is no value in this game.
