Manchester United v Liverpool predictions & betting tips

Manchester United boss David Moyes has hinted he will field a strong side. However, Robin van Persie will still sit out due to injury. He joins Phil Jones, Rafael and Darren Fletcher on the sidelines. Moyes has been tinkering a bit with his midfield setup, and Kagawa, who is ruled fit, can be starting again. Lindegaard, Hernandez and Zaha could also both get a chance here.

Liverpool looked poor in the second half against Swansea and for both halves against Southampton. The free flowing football we have become accustomed to seem to have headed into the physio room with Coutinho. The young Brazilian is obviously greatly missed at Anfield. Glen Johnson at right back is out too. So is Aly Cissokho (Left back) and both Daniel Agger (Central Defender) and Jose Enrique (Left back) are fitness doubts. Luis Suarez on the other hand will return after his lengthy suspension. Against Southampton Liverpool fielded four central defenders at the back. That did not look particularly good, so I expect Brendan Rodgers to tinker a bit with his side but maintain a solid spine. After all, Liverpool has no European football this season. Sterling, Ibe, Alberto, Allen, Flanagan, Ilori, Coates and Jones are in contention to get a rare start.

Liverpool v Manchester United betting tips

Old Trafford is set for another epic encounter. I’d say Liverpool looks for the taking at the back, so I am pretty sure David Moyes will plot a lot of high pressure. At Old Trafford they’ll have their fans behind them, spurring them on. Obviously that’s a plus in this setting. With Suarez back on the pitch and a lot of pace in other players Liverpool can definitely play on the break should United go for that high pressure! It could lead to many a goal scoring opportunity.

Should Manchester United give Liverpool more time on the ball at the back they will be closer to their normal free flowing self. However, against United at Old Trafford it is always going to be tough, United can defend well. After weighing the scenarios; my betting tip has to be Manchester United to win (on the 1x2) priced at 2.30 (23/10) with Bet365.
