WEST BROMWICH ALBION – NEWPORT: PREDICTIONS

This is a big Merseyside derby between two fallen giants of the England Premiership.

West Brom had a fantastic season last year but have had to adapt to the loss of battering ram Lukaku who has returned to Chelsea. Nic Anelka was signed but has left the club on compassionate leave after his brother died on Friday. Steve Clarke has his team playing decent attacking football but West Brom have had a tough start to the season. With 1 draw and 1 defeat from games against Everton and Southampton its not been a good start. 0 goals scored and very little created in both games.

Newport are a side risen from the ashes of the old Newport County, that side went into financial administration after relegation from the football league in 1988. In the following season they had to resign from the conference in midseason and were banished to the bottom of the non-league pyramid. Ending up four tiers below the football league. With a fresh start and a large fan base they slowly rose through the divisions until last year when they faced Wrexham at Wembley in the Conference playoff final. Winning brought them a dream return to League 2 after 25 years. They sit 6^th in England League 2 with 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat. In Round 1 they had an historic 3-1 away win over Brighton which was a fairytale win.

West Brom have quite a large squad and although they don’t have the immense strength in depth that other Prem sides have they have decent allround players.
