BARNSLEY – WIGAN: PREDICTIONS                 

Relegated Wigan travel to Barnsley for a classis Roses derby, Owen Coyle will need to hit the ground running as his Wigan team need to get straight back into the Premier League.

Barnsley finished just above the relegation spots last year but there is reasons to be optimistic for all Tykes fans. The side played some great football after the New Year and went on a long unbeaten run. That the didn’t get relegated when in a dire position around Christmas is a credit to them. The squad is solid and they have a great manager, when your signing players from Bayern Munich you must be doing something right! Dale Jennings joins from the European Champions and much is expected from the striker.

Wigan are many peoples favourite to be promoted but I think they have seriously erred in the appointment of Owen Coyle. The ex-Bolton man does not have the ability he thinks he does and will hinder the team I am sure. The side is very good and with the loss of players limited to Arouna Kone and Antolin Alcaraz they have a serious squad. In comes Grant Holt who can do some damage at this level.

BARNSLEY – WIGAN: BETTING TIPS

This game looks very likely to be a draw for me, a close opening game.  Barnsley are much improved and should be nowhere near the relegation zone. Wigan should be among the top spots with the side they have but I’m not convinced by the choice of manager. I take the stalemate here which seems the best value.
