Blackburn followed up their tremendous "backs to the wall" 1-0 win over Arsenal with a substandard 2-0 defeat away at Hull. Blackburn were second best for long spells and its left them with a mountain to climb to grab the last playoff spot. They maybe only 7 points behind but they have 5 teams in between them and Middlesbrough. Blackburn are in 11th position with 11 wins, 11 draws and 10 losses.  Before the loss to Hull they were in fine form too with four wins and two draws and just 2 goals conceded. With a host of new players brought in recently including David Bentley, Lee Williamson and the return of lively striker Leon Best. There are a few options for coach Appleton now.

Leeds beat Blackpool on Wednesday and climbed a few places in the packed middle section of the table.
