Charlton seem set for a mid-table finish, they are a typical Championship side in that they cannot seem to get a consistent run in the league. Back to back losses in the last two games to Sheffield Wednesday and Crystal Palace had put paid to a three game winning streak. Charlton sit in 14th on 39 points.  Charlton are 8 points above the drop zone and currently have 10 wins, 9 draws and 11 losses. Defensively they seem to be struggling, with only 1 clean sheet in 13 matches, in the two recent defeats they took the lead but both times conceded late goals to lose all the points.

Birmingham have shown some of their best form of late which is very surprising as they are under a fair amount of pressure. With uncertainty over the finances of the club and several of the top players hawked around in a fire sale situation the side seems to have finally got things together. Jack Butland was sold on deadline day but returned ot the club on loan for the remainder of the season. Birmingham are four games unbeaten with the last two games showing back to back wins for the first time this season, a remarkable statistic for one of the pre-season favourites. Birmingham are 16th at this time with 9 wins, 10 draws and 11 losses. They are only 6 points above Barnsley in 3rd bottom.

One of the biggest problems for both teams in this game is going to be the pitch. The Valley is looking like a turnip field at the moment and it is not condusive to any sort of football. I think Birmingham may adapt the best being a more direct side. Brum are in their best form of the season and confidence is coursing at the moment.
