DERBY – BLACKBURN: PREDICTIONS   

A tough season last year for both sides in England Championship, Blackburn were expected to leave the division straight away and nearly did at the wrong end! Derby performed well at home but could not get things together on the road.

Derby have strengthened this season and should expect to improve, they really need to improve on their away form and they could push for a playoff spot this year. Their home form was as good as any side in the division. Johnny Russell could be a shrewd signing for Derby, the Scot really improved last season and managed 20 goals in all competitions. He looks to have settled well and has shown his class in friendlies already, scoring 5 in 4 so far.

Blackburn will be looking to better last year’s abysmal showing. Stability is the key for me and  managers must be allowed to take chances and go after matches. Any sequence of losses resulted in a sacking last year as nutty owners Venkys went crazy with the P45’s. 17^th position last year was a joke for this club but any side who has 4 different managers in 1 season is bound to struggle. Blackburn have an immense squad, the biggest in the league and their undoubted quality there. DJ Campbell signs on the the season and he is class at this level. With Jordan Rhodes likely to be near the top of the scoring charts this season things look good for Rovers. Someone just needs to tell the owners the odd loss is not the end of the world.
