WIGAN – MIDDLESBROUGH: PREDICTIONS

Two underachieving sides meet at DW Stadium as Wigan host Middlesbrough.

Wigan started off with a band, destroying Barnsley 4-0 away in what was an excellent all round performance. However since then results have been poor with a draw to Doncaster and a poor loss to Bournemouth (a side beaten 5-1 on two separate occasions already!)Doncaster. I really thought Dave Whelan had erred big time with the appointment of Owen Coyle and its looking true already. Injury and suspension problems too with Thomas Rogne, Gary Caldwell and Ivan Ramis all missing from the back four and influential winger Callum McManaman suspended.

Middlesbrough are still rocking and reeling their way through games.  Ponderous and lacking and confidence the side is underperforming massively. They sit with 4 points after 1 win, 1 draw and 1 defeat.  Their only decent performance in four games was the low key 1-0 at Charlton.  Keeper Jason Steele is a huge doubt but striker Marvin Emnes (key forward) is pushing for a start after regaining full fitness.

This game could go anyway here with the sheer unpredictability of both sides so far. Wigan were tremendous on opening day but they were very average indeed in the follow up matches. Boro are struggling big time but do have the players to do damage but have a brittle confidence. I will take the Both Teams To Score market. Wigan have 3 of their 4 backline out and Boro do not have the ability to keep a clean sheet here. Odds are dropping on Both Teams To Score but Ladbrokes are slow to act and still offer 1.80.
