Arsenal v Fulham predictions and preview: Betting stats

Arsenal have secured 15 points so far this season (W4 D3 L3) and sit 7^th in the Premier League. Their recent form has been patchy at LWLWL and at home they are also yet to secure back-to-back victories. Their games have been fairly low scoring at just 2.30 goals a game with 4 seeing over 2.5 goals and 6 seeing fewer.

Fulham are just one place below their hosts and are just behind them on goal difference with the same record. They are actually unbeaten in their last 4 games but have only won the one game in this run (LDWDD). Away from home they are unbeaten in their last 3 games and have seen some high scoring affairs. Their games average 3.70 goals and all but one game has seen 3 or more goals.

Arsenal have never lost at home to Fulham (19-4-0) but the fixture last season required a late equaliser by Vermaelen to cancel out his own goal earlier in the game. Fulham won the most recent meeting at Craven Cottage.

Arsenal are an unwanted top of the injury table with absences including Oxlade-Chamberlain, Gibbs and Szczesny (all close to returns) while Rosicky and Diaby remain out. Recently Aaron Ramsey and Gervinho have been added to the large injury list. Fulham are missing just Kieran Richardson and long-term absentee Simon Davies.

Arsenal look pretty indifferent at the moment, really struggling to string together results. They do look pretty solid at home, winning twice and drawing against a stubborn Sunderland side and losing to Chelsea. The midweek draw at Schalke was a good result and may instil some confidence. I don’t think the defeat against Man Utd saw a very good Arsenal performance and they will want to control the game here.

Fulham have been doing very well so far this season. Their away form has been an improvement on recent seasons but still has some catching up to do to match their great home form. 75% of their goals conceded have been away from home and their leaky defence may allow Arsenal an early goal which will do nothing for the confidence. They were lucky to come away with a point against Everton last weekend.

Arsenal v Fulham predictions: 1X2 betting preview

For me Arsenal should run this game from the off. Consecutive defeats in the league, despite last week’s opponents, would be disastrous and the congestion in mid-table could see them slip to 10^th. I don’t think the fans and management would let that happen and I suspect that an Arsenal win here seems the value bet. I would have had them quite a bit shorter than the 1.53 with Paddy Power.

I suspect that Fulham will only narrowly lose here. They haven’t been embarrassed away from home yet and I don’t see that changing here. For me Fulham +1 looks the bet. If, as I think, they lose by 1 goal you get your stake returned but if they pull off an unlikely draw or victory then you win. A price of 2.05 with 188bet looks a good bet if you aren’t too confident in Arsenal.
