ASTON VILLA V SUNDERLAND PREDICTIONS

Aston Villa are still fighting to avoid relegation and 3 points here would go a long way to helping them get safe.  Sunderland should be safe now but a win here would make sure.

Aston Villa are 17^th in the Premiership with 34 points from 34 matches which leaves them 2 points ahead of 18^th placed Wigan.  They are just 3 points behind their opponents today and two other teams on 37 points so it’s still all to play for at the bottom.  Villa have been in mixed form lately, winning 2, drawing 1 and losing 2 of their last 5 matches.  They have a few winnable games before the end of the season so will be confident of staying up.

Sunderland are 14^th in the EPL with 37 points from 34 games which means they are not quite safe yet.  They have won their last two matches with much improved performances though, 3-0 over rivals Newcastle and 1-0 over Everton.  New manager Paolo Di Canio has really injected life into the squad and they have looked like a different team over the last few weeks.

Villa have struggled with injuries all season and will still be missing Albrighton, Herd, Gardner, Dunne and Petrov for this one while Sunderland are without Bardsley, Fletcher, Cattermole and Brown.
