Chelsea v Fulham predictions & betting tips

Chelsea is coming off a humiliating Champions League loss at home against Basel in midweek. Many a pundit has tipped Chelsea to win the English Premier League, but so far they do not look like champions. Especially in the final third Chelsea looks poor. Mourinho doesn’t have much faith in either Ba or Torres it seems, and Mata is often not played. No matter how the Special one sets up his team, it will be a competitive one. They stand with 2-1-1 so far, so they still have time to change this around, but they got to get three points against the likes of Fulham.  Chelsea should have no injury worries.

Fulham has four points in four matches. They should have beaten WBA, but messed that up last match day towards the end. The side has a decent attacking midfield, and overall they look solid. It will be no easy task for an offensively impotent Chelsea side to break down this Fulham side. Here the talented defender Briggs is out still. So is Stekelenburg (Goalie), Hughes (Defender) and good ole new boy Darren Bent (Striker).

The last three competitive matches played between the two at Stamford Bridge have ended in a draw! That fact combined with the Champions League midweek event makes me very reluctant to even look at the 1.30 (3/10) odds for the home win.

My first, of several betting tips is Fulham +1.5. Bet365 offers 2.00 (1/1) for Fulham +1.5 on the Asian Handicap coupon. I don’t know what they’re smoking over at Stoke on Trent, but those odds are absolutely fantastic given this game setting. Chelsea struggles offensively. It’s a west London derby that Fulham has done well in over time, and Chelsea is in poor form.

Half Time X is another betting tip of mine. Bet365 prices it at 2.63 (13/8). Given the competitive nature of this derby and Chelsea’s form and offensive impotency I think these odds are a few tenths above par.

Under 2.5 is set at 2.30 (13/10) with Bet365. Obviously with Chelsea being less than optimal in front of goal, and Fulham going into this tie with structure and compactness as well as a ton of fighting spirit I must say this looks obvious value to me.
