Everton are notoriously slow starters in the EPL so it was a bonus for them that they started strongly and beat Manchester United in their first game of the season.  They followed that up with another excellent 3-1 win away to Aston Villa before dropping their first points of the season with a 2-0 loss at West Brom.

Newcastle started the season strongly with a win against Tottenham thanks to a late penalty but since then their form has dipped.  They were easily beaten by a strong Chelsea team at Stanford Bridge and held to a 1-1 draw at home to Aston Villa.  Improvement will be necessary if Newcastle want to match their strong finish last year.

Everton almost have a full strength squad, with only Tony Hibbert missing and he is easily replaced at right back by Phil Neville.  Newcastle are without important central defender Fabricio Coloccini who has a hamstring injury, this will be a big miss for them as he is one of their most important players.
