Everton (9-7-2) suffered a surprising 1-0 loss at home to bottom club Sunderland on Thursday, and will look to bounce back here. An early penalty was the key factor, leading to the only goal and meant keeper Howard was sent off. The ten men laid siege to the Sunderland goal, only for a heroic keeping display keeping Everton at bay. Prior to this, Everton had gone ten unbeaten, looking one of the best sides in the league. Southampton (7-6-5) ended a six match winless streak with a convincing 3-0 away win at Cardiff. They have looked a very decent young side, and will not be phased by this tough fixture, although they have a poor record at Goodison with only one win in the past fourteen visits. Key figures Howard(gk) and Barry(mid) are suspended, with Deulofeu, Gibson(mid) and Kone(str) are injured. Baines is fit to return if selected for Everton. Southampton miss Boruc(gk), Wanyama(mid) with injury, and Schneiderlin(mid) is suspended.
