Fulham v Southampton predictions: Stats

Fulham is 1-1-4 in the Premier League in their last six overall. At home, their last six stats look like this: 2-1-3, with a goal average of 3/per game. Five out of six went over 2.5. In this interval Fulham managed one clean sheet (against Villa) and scored in five out of six.

Southampton is 3-1-2 in the Premiership overall and 1-0-5 away from home (last six). The goal average in the last six away EPL games was 3.83. Four out of six went over 2.5. Southampton scored in four out of six. They did not manage any clean sheets in this six game interval.

Team news and Run of play

Steve Sidwell is back in the middle of the park for Fulham. His return will be crucial in Martin Jol’s quest to turn things around for the home side after a few poor matches for his sides’ standard. Bryan Ruiz, Simon Davies and Mahamadou Diarra are all still ruled out. For Southampton Adam Lallana could be fit again, but at the time of writing he looks likely to miss out again.

The reverse fixture ended 2-2. This was a fairly even game looking at the stats, but Southampton overall was the better side for over 2/3 of the game. Fulham is usually very solid at home, but their last few displays have been outright poor. There has been very little pressure applied to the opposition, and defensively Fulham has done everything but shine. Southampton doesn’t have much to cheer for either. Away from home Southampton has been an easy victim. They try to play a fluid style of football and can be very entertaining to watch in their best moments. 

If Fulham can get their act together and work hard I think they can get a win, but given the last few matches I am far from certain they can do it. If an attacking side like Southampton is given too much time and space they can hurt you. Martin Jol; you’ve been warned.

Normally strong at home, this is a perfect match for Fulham to get back to their normal self. Southampton has been equally poor lately, and without Lallana they’re not that much of a threat in the last 1/3 of the pitch. This is just as much a bet against Southampton as it is a bet on Fulham. I don’t like either side at the moment. You can get 1.79 on Fulham with Betsson. In combination with their €100 Risk Free bet (money back if you lose) I think this is testable.

Four times so far this season Southampton has lost with two or more on the road. If Fulham can get closer to their normal standard they should be able to capitalize. I am looking at the Fulham -1 Asian Handicap. If Fulham win 1-0, 2-1, 3-2 etc. we get our money back. If they win by two or more, the stake is multiplied with the odds. Fulham v Southampton predictions for Total Goals

Looking at the combined last 6 Fulham home and Southampton away games the Over 2.5 goals odds could be argued to be around 1/3 (1.33). However, Southampton has played five Under 2.5 games in a row and Fulham has only scored five goals in their last six Premiership games. I think this looks pretty much like a 50-50 game. In order to cushion the bet a little I am interested in the under 3 goals line. If we bet under 3 and the game ends with exactly three goals scored we get our money back. If the goal ends with two or less goals we win the stake x the odds. 188bet offers 2.21 for Under 3 goals here, and I like that price a lot. I think they’ve been staring too much at the stats, not adjusting for the full picture. It’s a must bet for me.
