Rafael Benitez returns to Anfield but will find his employers in no mood to hand out favours. Liverpool are surging through the gears under Jurgen Klopp and look in fine fettle.  They are up to 7^th in the league and have a Europa League semifinal against Villarreal to look forward to.  Liverpool are 7 points off City in 4^th but do have a game in hand. Home form reads 7 wins, 6 draws and 3 defeats. Recent form reads an unbeaten run of 6 games with 4 wins and 2 draws. Goals have been flowing too with 16 scored and 7 conceded. They are without Origi and Benteke here. Newcastle are desperate for points as they sit in 2^nd bottom with 29 points from 34 games. They are much improved under Benitez and with players back too it’s a pity there are not more games left. They are 2 points behind Norwich in 4^th bottom. Away form for Newcastle shows 2 wins, 1 draw and 14 defeats – not even Villa have lost that many road games.  Fabricio Coloccini and Daryl Janmaat are still out but Kevin Mbabu is back.

Liverpool have such a strong squad they can effectively play 2 separate attacking units. They are without Origi which is a blow but they do have a lightly used pairing in Firminho and Sturridge to fill in. I think Newcastle will battle but I think Liverpool will prevail.
