Newcastle v West ham predictions & betting tips

Newcastle was thumped by a classy Man City in their season opener. This will be a very different type of game, much more physical! They could have used Steven Taylor here, but he is out suspended. Silk foot midfielder Cabaye is probably not going to play either due to transfer controversies. Midfield battler Cheik Tiote is a doubt for Newcastle too. Striker Remy who is on loan from QPR is still injured. Probably Gutierrez won’t be fit enough to participate either. There is a lot of football qualities in this side, but they look a bit toothless up front, and their weakened defensively too.

West ham opened with a 2-0 win at home against Cardiff, and they looked pretty solid. Sam Allardyce has gotten this side very organized and as usual when he constructs a football side there is a touch of brute force in the mix. West ham will be very hard to break down, and they also got some offensive players that can hurt you. Carroll is out still for West ham here.

Run of play

Last season the teams played two low scoring games. West ham won this fixture 1-0 in a quite poor game. Newcastle was the better side overall, but their chances went begging. The reverse fixture, played as recently as May ended 0-0. This looks like a very similar game to the last couple of games played, but West ham looks slightly improved from last year and could perhaps have a bit more possession.
