Norwich v Arsenal predictions and preview: Betting stats
Norwich are 19th in the Premier League and have 3 points after 7 games (W0 D3 L4). They are yet to win and their form reads DDLLL. At home is where they have performed a bit better, starting the sesason with two draws against QPR and West Ham before a 5-2 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool last time out. Their games average 3.14 goals with 3 over 2.5 goals and 4 under.
Arsenal currently sit 7th with 12 points and a record of W3 D3 L1. Their only defeat was a 2-1 home loss against Chelsea and their form is WWDLW. Away from home they are performing better than at the Emirates and have impressed with draws against Stoke and Man City and wins against Liverpool and West Ham. Their games average 2.57 goals with the same over/under 2.5 as their opponents.
Last season’s corresponding fixture saw Arsenal come from behind with two van Persie goals to beat Norwich 2-1 at Carrow Road. The match at the Emirates was a thrilling 3-3 draw.
Team News and Run of Play
Norwich will be without Robert Snodgrass for this game but other than that look like being at full strength. Arsenal have the most injuries of any Premier League side. The 1st and 2nd choice keepers are still out so Vito Mannone will continue in goal. Gibbs and Rosicky are out for the foreseeable future while Bacary Sagna is not yet fit. Jack Wilshere could push for a place on the bench after a couple of U21 outings in recent weeks. Theo Walcott’s clattering by the San Marino keeper has left him with a bruised lung and he is definitely out.
Norwich haven’t really performed this season. Last term they were carried to a decent league position by Grant Holt’s goals and he hasn’t been firing them in as often so far, although recent performances suggest he is coming back into some sort of form. They have managed to score away at Chelsea and at home to Liverpool in recent games but combined have conceded 9 goals in these games. Their defence is a weak point that Chris Hughton will need to sort or his side could be in danger.
Arsenal started the season quite impressively, especially in comparison with last season’s opening fixtures. Away from home they seem to have the ability to grind out results without playing as well as they would hope but draws against Stoke and Man City were probably the most they could ask for. They are still a good passing side with a much improved frontline despite the departure of van Persie.
Norwich will likely set up to defend against Arsenal in this game. They know however that Arsenal will play the ball patiently and with the likes of Cazorla able to create something from nothing they will need to be constantly on their toes to thwart the wiry Spaniard and the three-pronged attack of Giroud, Podolski and Gervinho.
Norwich v Arsenal predictions: 1X2 betting preview
I think Norwich would do very well to get anything out of this game. They will defend doggedly but ultimately I think Arsenal will pass them out of the tie and take the three points. Their team is full of class and at the back they seem more assured with blossoming young talent in Carl Jenkinson who has spent the week training with the England squad. I think one side with no home wins at home to a side who look very good away is a no-brainer.
If you agree then back Arsenal at 1.57 with William Hill.
Norwich v Arsenal predictions: Asian Handicap preview
Arsenal should win this game by a couple of clear goals at least. I think backing Arsenal -1 on the Asian Handicap is a sound bet. I’m pretty sure they’ll win and even if they only manage to do so by one goal you get your stake returned.
If you agree that Arsenal can win it with ease then Arsenal (-1) is 1.93 with Pinnacle.
Norwich v Arsenal predictions: Total Goals preview
I can see Arsenal scoring a few goals in this game. Their games away from home haven’t been particularly high scoring but they have played against three of the best defences in the league. Against West Ham they scored 3. Norwich looked a decent side at home until they were beaten badly by Liverpool and I can see them struggling with this potent Arsenal attack. Over 2.5 goals is as little as 1.60 so the value lies in over 3.5 goals at 2.63.
If you want a good return then bet over 3.5 goals with Paddy Power.
