Norwich v Aston Villa predictions & betting tips

Norwich is 1-1-2 in the Premier League so far. The squad has a lot of new faces, so a little time to gel has been needed. So far they drew Everton, lost to Hull and Spurs. Their only win so far was against Southampton, at home. Ex Celtic man Gary Hooper is set to get his debut here. The young striker was excellent for the Scots, and I can’t wait to see him partner van Wolfswinkel up front. If his fitness levels are up to it, he can hit the ground running. That would definitely strengthen this Norwich attack. Bennett (Defender) is the only player out for Norwich here.

Aston Villa looked bright against Arsenal in the season opener, but has since lost three on the trot to Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle. Norwich is perhaps a step down in class, and this will be one of the games in my opinion that will define Villa’s season. For Villa the influential central defender Okore is out. Clark or Baker will deputize. Okore has been top drawer, so it will be interesting to see how Lambert solves this. N’Zogbia is still out too.

Last season Aston Villa beat Norwich at Carrow Road twice. Villa won once in the Premier League, and once in the League Cup. The Premier League win came as late as April 2013. However, Aston Villa were lucky to get all the points. Norwich at least deserved one point.

To me this looks like a quite tight game between two sides much improved on last season. Both sides will feel they perhaps haven’t gotten the points deserved so far, and that makes this a very important game for both.

I rate Norwich slightly stronger overall, but Aston Villa carries more goal threat to me with Benteke up front. This evens the picture out a lot for me.

Out of the odds available I like the draw the most at 3.20 (23/10) with Bet365.  I would have set it two tenth’s lower myself at least. That’s my first out of several betting tips.
