Norwich v Man Utd predictions and preview: Betting stats

Norwich are currently 15^th in the Premier League with 11 points from their opening 11 games (W2 D5 L4). Their form has been inconsistent at LWDWD but they are unbeaten in their last 4 games. At home they have won their last two after starting with two draws and a heavy defeat to Liverpool. Their games have been low scoring at just 2.36 goals on average with just 3 seeing over 2.5 goals; 8 have had fewer.

Man Utd are top of the league on 27 points and have a record of W9 D0 L2 but since their opening matchday defeat to Everton at Goodison Park they have recorded 5 consecutive away wins and the same can be said for their overall form of WWWWW. Their games have averaged the highest amount of goals in the league at 4.09 and it is only that Everton defeat that has had under 2.5 goals; the other 10 have all had 3 or more.

The record at Carrow Road is 5-6-11 in favour of Man Utd but last season’s victory was a close one with a 91^st Ryan Giggs winner separating the teams.

Team News and Run of Play

Norwich will once again be without Harry Kane and Russell Martin while Man Utd will be without Nani and Evans for another week or so. Vidic will be out until about Christmas and this game may be a little too soon to see both Phil Jones and Shinji Kagawa back for the Reds.

Norwich have been pretty solid at home, conceding just 6 goals and with 5 of those coming against Liverpool they have managed 3 clean sheets which is more than United can boast. I suspect they will try and shut up shop against the league leaders and attempt to hit them on the break, a tactic that almost paid off for Aston Villa last weekend. Norwich’s recent form has seen them accelerate away from the relegation zone and they will want to continue their good form but this is the biggest test they will have faced so far at Carrow Road.

Man Utd have been sensational at giving other sides headstarts so far this season! It seems they don’t want to make topping the Premier League look too easy. I do however think that at some point it may end badly for them. Eventually they’re going to come across a defence so stubborn they aren’t let through. I think this may be a really difficult side for them to break down looking at Norwich’s recent home results. They may once again need to call upon Javier Hernandez to bail them out and continue his run of 7 goals in their last 5 games in all competitions.

Norwich v Man Utd predictions: 1X2 betting preview

For me I can see a Man Utd win here but it really won’t be straightforward; it rarely is this season anyway. I think they have the patience to break down this Norwich defence and get past John Ruddy in the Canaries’ net eventually. For me it will be by just one goal but I think a Man Utd win is almost inevitable. At 1.44 with Ladbrokes however it doesn’t really represent great value but that’s what comes of them being in such good form.

Norwich v Man Utd predictions: Asian Handicap preview

Since I can only see a slim United win, I think it’s safe to say I’ll be favouring the outsiders at home in the Asian handicap. It might not seem like great value but Norwich +1.5 at 1.71 with 188bet is probably the bet here. I’d be tempted by the +1 market but getting your stake returned isn’t exactly a great way of making profit so I’ll stick to thinking that Norwich will lose by 1 goal.

Norwich v Man Utd predictions: Total Goals preview

With Norwich’s home games averaging just 2.2 goals and without that Liverpool defeat just 1 goal a game it seems like the unders is the bet. However United’s record of conceding first away from home means they’ve had to score 2 to win. Therefore the average goals in their away games is high at 3.66. For me though I can’t see too many goals. I really think Norwich’s clean sheet record at home is exemplary and once again they will be dogged in their attempts to keep a big side at bay. Under 2.5 goals is the bet here at 2.50 with William Hill.
