QPR v Everton predictions and preview: Betting stats

QPR have not started the season in the manner they would have liked and are bottom of the Premier League with 2 points from their opening 7 games (W0 D2 L5). Their form of LDLLL has left manager Mark Hughes under pressure and at home, despite a 0-0 draw against local rivals Chelsea they have a 5-0 and a 2-1 defeat to their name so far. Their games have been fairly high scoring at 3.14 a game with 5 exceeding 2.5 goals.

Everton are currently sitting pretty in 4th in the league with 14 points (W4 D2 L1) and they are currently unbeaten in their last four games (LDWWD). Away from home they have been pretty good with easy wins at Villa and Swansea, a defeat against unbeaten-at-home West Brom and most recently a draw against Wigan. Their games have also averaged 3.14 goals and the same amount of games have gone over 2.5 goals.

Everton don’t have a brilliant record at Loftus Road but with QPR’s absence from the Premier League for 15 years before last season it’s hard to say if those records are relevant. In the corresponding fixture last season QPR ended a losing streak with a 1-1 draw.

Team News and Run of Play

QPR should welcome Ryan Nelsen back to their squad for this game but Clint Hill and Fabio may still be a week or two away from match fitness. Aside from these two and Andy Johnson’s long term absence they have a clean bill of health. For Everton, Marouane Fellaini will be out for a few weeks with a knee injury and will hope to be back for the Merseyside derby while Tony Hibbert and Darron Gibson may not quite make it back this weekend.

QPR’s season has been a bit of a shocker so far and Mark Hughes has already had the dreaded vote of confidence from chairman Tony Fernandes so it seems he is bearing the brunt of the blame for their poor form. The team doesn’t seem to have gelled with the new signings and they are not scoring many goals yet shipping them fairly regularly. One positive may be the return to form of Adel Taarabt. Last season wasn’t up to his high standard but he seems to be talismanic for QPR once again.

Everton started magnificently with a home win against Man Utd and have followed that up with a decent run of results. Goals from midfield through the injured Fellaini and once again striker Nikica Jelavic have propelled them up the table.

QPR will have to be stubborn in this game, respecting Everton’s attacking threat. They seemed to play a very defensive formation against Chelsea and came out of the tie with a 0-0 draw so if they do the same in this game they could be hopeful of the same result.

QPR v Everton predictions: 1X2 betting preview

For me, QPR will respect Everton but ultimately I think Leighton Baines flying down the left wing providing crosses for Jelavic and whomever partners him up top (Mirallas or Anichebe) will be the difference. What can be said is that I can’t see Everton running away with the victory and it will be hard fought but I do believe the Toffees will take all three points. 2.25 for the Everton win with Paddy Power seems a good price.

If you think QPR will end the weekend as they started it (bottom of the league) then take the bet here.

QPR v Everton predictions: Asian Handicap preview

On the off chance Everton can’t break down QPR then I think getting half of your stake returned with a bet on Everton (-0.25) at 1.91 with 188bet isn’t a bad shout at all. If they do take the win then of course you do too.

If you’re not quite so confident in Everton’s ability then take some of your risk away here.

QPR v Everton predictions: Total Goals preview

For me this game won’t see goals. I hope for QPR’s sake that they don’t take Everton for granted and believe they aren’t a real threat because they are. And if they play in a normal formation I can see Everton scoring 3 goals. But I don’t think Mark Hughes is that stupid so under 2.5 goals is my bet.

If you agree a price of 1.97 with 188bet looks good value, click here.
