SOUTHAMPTON V CHELSEA PREDICTIONS

Southampton look to continue their run of excellent home performances against the top sides while Chelsea could cement their Champions League spot with a difficult away win.

Southampton are 16^th in the Premier League with 31 points from 30 matches which puts them just 4 points ahead of the relegation zone.  They have won 2, drawn 1 and lost 2 of their last 5 matches and surprisingly those wins have come against Manchester City and Liverpool.  Southampton seem to have a knack for taking on the big sides at home and they will be hoping it continues today as 3 points would make Premiership survival much easier.

Chelsea have won 3 of their last 4 EPL matches, but all have come at home.  In away fixtures they have not won in 3 games and have lost back to back at Newcastle and Manchester City.  With a 5 point lead over 5^th place Arsenal in the fight for Champions League spots they are still in pole position but if they continue their poor away run then the chasing teams will be right behind them.

Southampton have Luke Shaw and Hooiveld struggling with knocks but they may make it in time for the match but Danny Fox is expected to miss out completely.  Chelsea meanwhile have long term absentee Romeu missing and he is likely to be joined by Ramires and Cahill on the sidelines.

It will be a very tough ask for Southampton to keep up their home winning run against top sides.  They have played fantastic in the matches against Manchester City and Liverpool but you can’t expect Chelsea to struggle also.
